When to Replace Water Filter Cartridges (and What Happens If You Don't)
Share
Manufacturer intervals are a starting point
Published service lives assume average suburban use and stable mains quality. Coastal storms, nearby construction, house guests and higher daily throughput all load cartridges faster. At commissioning we set a baseline schedule, then adjust after the first service visits.
Signs a cartridge is due (or overdue)
Gradual loss of flow, returning chlorine taste or odour, cloudiness as media ages, or pump strain on reverse-osmosis units are common cues. Skipping changes can void warranty coverage, shorten membrane life, and put unnecessary stress on housings and hoses.
Make the schedule stick
A dated label inside the cupboard or a phone reminder works. We can log serial numbers and change dates on our job sheet — useful if you sell the property or hand management to a property manager.
DIY vs booked service
Stiff housings, flattened O-rings, unknown brands from a previous owner, or reverse-osmosis sanitisation are reasons to book us. Correct torque, spare seals and the right cartridge SKUs protect the investment you already made.
