This is mostly due to the water quality. The GT1-98 RO system is fitted with a micro-computer that can detect the TDS of the water and alarm when they require replacing. It is set to 40 ppm as a default but this can be modified based on your needs.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"\u003eTDS meters measure the total dissolved solids in ppm in the water. To test your membrane, get a baseline reading out of your tap (unfiltered water) and then compare that to a reading directly off the membrane (disconnect the tube before it goes into the post filter cartridge). You can expect to get a difference of approx 90-99% between the readings which indicate that the membrane is functioning correctly.
